Flight 7500: A Supernatural Force, Not So Much

Flight 7500, a film that is confused about what it is, for sure. The description of this movie doesn't really fit.

The description is, "Passengers and crew members encounter a supernatural force in the cabin during an international flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo." But, I wouldn't say that this is an accurate description. There is a Japanese superstition about a Japanese "death doll", called a Shinigami, which was brought on board by the first passenger to die. But, he doesn't die in the same manner as the rest of the deaths, which is odd in and of itself and they never go on to explain how or why this guy died.

The director was Takashi Shimizu, which makes sense with the supposed plot line, but the rest of the film shows us a bunch of passengers, all with various real life drama going on, and they all have to figure out their own existential crises.

The characters aren't particularly memorable, but none of them really made me wish for their deaths. That's something, I guess. I'm surprised this has a rating as high as it does on IMDB, that place rips apart even some of the better horror films. 4.6? That's pretty high for this.

I wasn't entirely bored through this one and didn't want to turn it off, so I think that's a victory. I wouldn't watch it twice, though.

2 1/2 stars out of 5? That's probably as high as I'd go with it.
